We are truly blessed on Koh Lipe - We are surrounded by beautiful seas with the most amazing colours from the ever changing sun light. Around the island are coral reefs teeming with fish and wild life. The beaches are all covered in white sand. Its impossible to visit Koh Lipe without spending lots of time admiring the beaches and the sea.
One of the best ways to explore the seas around Koh Lipe is by snorkelling. You can rent gear in the resort and go snorkelling directly from our beach and see a lot of fish and coral. When you've exhausted Sunrise Beach take one of our snorkel tours to the nearby islands. For more information see our Boat Trips page.
If you don't like getting wet and snorkelling is not your thing rent a kayak and explore the small islands off Sunrise Beach. If you want to be more adventurous you can kayak all the way over to Adang and explore the beaches there.
The Marine Park
Koh Lipe is on the edge of the Tarutao National Marine Park which was founded in 1972 and is Thailand's second oldest marine park. Covering an area of 1,490 sq km, the park has 2 main island groups: Tarutao and Adang-Rawi. Koh Lipe is part of the Adang-Rawi group also called the Butang Islands. Coral Reefs
The hundreds of coral reefs within the national park are some of the best to be found in Thailand. Coral reefs are made from living organisms and can take hundreds of years to grow. We have a beautiful coral reef right in front of the resort. Try not to step on the coral, especially at low tide. Through our dive centre we are members of Green Fins an organisation that promotes the preservation of coral reefs.
In the resort we have our very own dive centre, Castaway Divers. When we set up our dive centre we were looking to do something a little different. We started with the idea of if we came to Koh Lipe to dive what would we want and designed it from there.
We dive in small groups from our own boats that can get you to the dive sites quickly. No sitting around in big boats all day waiting your turn to dive. Whether you are going diving for your first time or dive regularly we want your experience to be fun.
Not just for scuba diving, Castaway Divers organises all our beach activities including renting kayaks and snorkel gear. Organising daily snorkel trips into the national park and boat trips to deserted beaches.
